Deleting your DocNest account and data

Last updated: 13 May 2026

This page tells you exactly how to delete your DocNest account, what data we remove, what (if anything) we keep, and how long the process takes.

DocNest is operated by Rohit Kale. Reach me at rohitkale523@gmail.com if anything on this page is unclear.

Delete your account from inside the app (recommended)

This is the fastest path — one tap from inside DocNest.

  1. Open DocNest on your phone.
  2. Tap the profile avatar in the top-right of the home screen. This opens Settings.
  3. Scroll to the Danger zone section near the bottom of Settings.
  4. Tap Delete account.
  5. Read the confirmation screen. It will warn you that deletion is immediate and irreversible.
  6. Tap Delete account permanently to confirm.

You will be signed out and your account is queued for purge.

Delete your account if you cannot access the app

If you lost access to your sign-in email, your phone is broken, or you simply cannot reach Settings:

  1. Send an email to rohitkale523@gmail.com.
  2. Use the subject line: “DocNest account deletion request”.
  3. From the message body include: - The email address associated with your DocNest account. - A short statement: “I am requesting permanent deletion of my DocNest account and all associated data.”
  4. We will reply within 7 days to confirm the deletion, and complete the purge inside the same window.

If the email you send from differs from your DocNest sign-in email, we may ask one verification question (a doc category you remember adding, the approximate date of sign-up, etc.) to make sure we aren’t deleting someone else’s account.

What gets deleted

When your account is deleted, all of the following is permanently removed:

Database purge happens within 7 days of the deletion request. Storage objects are physically purged within 30 days as part of Supabase’s normal storage cleanup cycle.

What we keep

Almost nothing. The narrow exceptions are:

We do not keep your documents, your email, your name, or any identifier that can be linked back to you.

End-to-end encrypted documents — a note

If you uploaded documents to categories marked end-to-end encrypted (Identity, Finance, or any other category you toggled E2E), we already cannot read those documents. Deletion removes them just like any other document, but for transparency: even before deletion, that content was never visible to us — only the ciphertext was on our servers.

Family-shared vaults

If you were the owner of a family vault, your deletion also revokes access for every member you invited. The members’ own DocNest accounts are not affected.

If you were a member of someone else’s vault, your deletion just removes your access to that vault. The owner’s documents stay where they are.

After deletion

You can sign up again any time with the same email — Supabase Auth will issue a fresh user ID and we will provision a new empty vault. There is no waiting period.
